The lives of a self-made American tycoon and his wife are drastically changed when they take a tour of Europe. The success of their marriage seems questionable as they re-evaluate their lives. Huston excels as does the rest of the cast in this film, based upon the Sinclair Lewis novel.

Seems kinda slow and dated at first, but keep watching! Huston and Astor are wonderful, but Maria Ouspenskaya, (playing the mother of the young man wooing Dodsworth's wife) who appears in only one scene, absolutely makes this movie powerful and meaningful. Of course the writers deserve credit for giving her such lines to speak, but this five minutes of her performance is enough to put far too many actors to shame. And Dodsworth's last line about his wife is priceless! Watch this one!
