Stallone is a former Green Beret survivor of Vietnam whose nightmares of wartime horrors are triggered by a wrongful arrest in a small town. He escapes into the mountains of the Northwest and leads his pursuers to all manner of bloody ends. Finally, the Army is summoned to crush him. Extremely violent and frequently confused, fueled on the revenge fantasy and not much concerned with the rules of plot realism. Screen debut of Caruso. Based on David Morrell's novel. A boxoffice hit that launched the "Rambo" series. Followed by "Rambo: First Blood, Part 2."

John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) was awarded a medal of honor while serving in Vietnam War and was a member of the elite U.S. Army Special Forces unit. Rambo is the last surviving member of his unit. Now that he is back in the U.S. he goes into a small town and his hair is long and he is in a trench coach and the sheriff gives him a hard time and Rambo gets arrested. The police beat him and are cruel to him and want to shave his head. He starts having flash backs from Vietnam and breaks out of jail and heads to the woods. He could have killed all the police that were after him but he didn't. Rambo's old Colonel, Samuel Trautman (Richard Crenna)comes in to calm Rambo down and he is arrested finally and taken into custody. This 1982 movie is really good and Sylvester Stallone is a great Rambo!
