007 travels to Japan to take on arch-nemesis Blofeld, who has been capturing Russian and American spacecraft in an attempt to start WWIII. Great location photography; theme sung by Nancy Sinatra. Implausible plot, however, is a handicap, even though this is Bond.

WARNING: REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS – WE RECOMMEND TO WATCH MOVIE FIRST! VERDICT: Despite being #11 in my personal rating, it’s one of classic Bond movies: fun to watch, all in style, entertaining, and using the right ingredients, though not as dynamic as “Goldfinger” or as epic as “Thunderball”. Too bad L. Gilbert didn’t direct “007” for the next 10 years between YOLT and SWLM. COLL STUFF: - New turn: Bond goes real undercover because he’s “dead” - Gyro-plane “Little Nelly”: great aerial footage and so rare in movies - Exotic spa full of Japanese girls: every man’s sexual dream -Toyota-2000GT: a great car ahead of its time - Lifting a car with a huge magnet - Elaborate killings: a “trap-bed”, a knife through a wall, a drop of poison down the rope - Pirahnas pool: something new - Space-hijacking idea: truly a big scale and very advanced for late 60’s - 1st time in the series: a big final battle in villain’s lair - Soviet and US pilots fighting together: nice to see in the time of Cold war - Exotic views: traditional Japan NOT COOL: - Bond does not drive, only rides in cars - Henchman is typically big and blond, but not scary enough - CG of erupting volcano are badly done
