In this caricature of large corporations and women in the working world, Coleman plays the male chauvinist boss who calls the shots and keeps his employees, all female, under his thumb. Three of the office secretaries daydream of Coleman's disposal and rashly kidnap him after a silly set of occurrences threaten their jobs. While they have him under lock and key, the trio take office matters into their own hands and take a stab at running things their own way, with amusing results. Basis for a TV series.

This movie made in 1980 is a really funny movie about three secretaries who work for a company called Consolidated and discover that their boss Franklin is a chauvinist and doesn't think the secretaries are good enough for a man's job. Judy (Jane Fonda)just started working there because her husband left her for his secretary, Violet (Lily Tomlin)is the office manager and has been working for the company a long time and keeps getting passed over for promotions to men with less knowledge and experience and Doralee (Dolly Parton) is the personal secretary for Franklin (Dabney Coleman) who has been lying about her to everyone in the office saying they are having an affair. One night, all three women meet at a local bar by chance and complain to each other about Franklin and how they would like to kill him. Then one day, Violet accidentally puts rat poisoning in Franklin's coffee because she thought it was sweetner, and Judy and Doralee think Violet was trying to kill him but they all discover that he fell and hit his head so they decide to tie him up and take control of the office their way. The three get a little carried away, but it's a really funny movie and three do a great job.
