A fascinating account of the one and only successful escape from the maximum security prison at Alcatraz in 1962. The three men were never heard from again.

This is an excellent movie based on a true story that happened in 1962 and was made into a movie 1979. Clint Eastwood plays Frank Morris who has a really high IQ and is in prison for life for robbing a bank. He becomes friends with two brothers named John (played by Fred Ward) and Clarence (played by Jack Thibeau) who make plans to escape from their prison. No one has ever escaped from Alcatraz because the prison is surrounded by a huge brick wall and is in the middle of the San Francisco Bay in California. The three actors did all their own stunt work in this movie and the entire plan took a lot of planning to not only escape, but to fool the guards that they were in their cells. No one knows if the 3 men every made it once they did escape because no bodies were ever found. This great movie shows how bad life in prison was and how bad the conditions were at Alcatraz and to what extremes the inmates would go to, to try and escape.
