Boxoffice smash about a young man from the slums of Philadelphia who dreams of becoming a boxing champion. Stallone plays Rocky, the underdog hoping to win fame and self-respect. Rags-to-riches story seems to parallel Stallone's life; he had been previously virtually unknown before this movie. Intense portrayal of the American Dream; loses strength in the subsequent (and numerous) sequels.

I love all the Rocky movies. Sly did a great job portraying a boxer. The movie starts out that he is young, poor and training very hard to get into professional boxing. The theme song plays while he is doing his heavy training and the song is a really good inspirational song. The movie also shows you that if you work at something hard enough, you too can make your dreams come true. Rocky does when the heavy weight title, gets married, and makes a lot of money. Sly went on to make many more Rocky movies. He is a really good actor and is excellent shape for all the movies.
