Four childhood buddies with telepathic abilities bestowed on them by a mentally retarded boy they protected meet in the Maine woods for an annual hunting trip just in time for a body-snatching alien jamboree. Of course, the military is there, too, waiting for the chance to eliminate the aliens by toasting the town, literally. Convoluted story doesn't seem like an adaptation of King's novel, it's more like an adaptation of all of 'em, from "It" to "Stand By Me." With some "The Thing" and "Outbreak" thrown in for good measure. None of it works, unless you like bloody scenes of alien rectal excavation.

This is a creepy "scifi" movie. Jonesy, Pete, Beaver and Henry are all childhood friends, kept together by a special secret they share. Once every year, they go on a hunting trip to the Jefferson Tract. This year is different. They shelter a man who has been lost for days in the woods in the middle of a blizzard. The man has odd marks on his face. As they discover the awful truth of what he is infected with, the military attempts to quarantine an alien virus as a result of an alien crash landing. The four friends must survive the alien infection and overpower a crazed military admiral who prepares to wipe out the whole Jefferson Tract in order to contain the alien infection.
