Andie (Hudson) is a columnist who needs to date Ben (McConaughey) and then be so obnoxious that he will dump her in 10 days so she can write an article about it for Composure magazine. Ben has placed a bet with his colleagues that he can get any woman to fall in love with him in 10 days so he can get an account he wants. So while Andie is being the needy, clingy narcissic woman from hell, Ben patiently puts up with it for his own reasons. It's a universal rule that such contrivances in a romantic comedy guarantee that the two will genuinely fall in love. Unfortunately, the laughs are far too sparse and both characters too distasteful in their deceit for you to care.

Donald Petrie directed the film “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” starring Kate Hudson (as Andie) and Matthew McConaughey (as Ben). This fun, romantic comedy released in 2003 to VHS and DVD with a total running time of 112 minutes. Ben works for an advertising agency. He really wants the diamond merchant campaign so he makes a deal with two other competitors who also want the campaign. The deal is that if Ben can make a women fall in love with him in ten days he wins the campaign. The two competitors chose Andie, who is a writer working for Composure Magazine. What Ben doesn’t know about Andie is that she also has a bet/deal going on. She is writing a story on how to lose a guy in ten days. If she can do this then she is allowed to write more stories. The two have no idea about each other’s bet. Andie is trying to do anything to make him leave and Ben is trying anything to stay with her. This movie is so funny. It had me laughing all the way through. The two make a great team together and have great chemistry.

This movie is hilarious! Don't think it's just another chick flick because everyone should see this! Also, Matthew McConaughey is in it, so it's that much better! Their relationship throughout the movie is ridiculous! No one would ever want to be with a girl like this! Any guy would go INSANE! At least she was only in a bet. It's funny how they are both in somewhat of the same bet and neither one knew it until later in the movie and eventually falling for each other. I guess you can say it was a good way to meet someone since it all worked out in the end of the movie.
