Based on the true story of the Andrea Gail, a swordfishing boat lost at sea in 1991 during a freak storm--one of the biggest of the century--off the coast of Newfoundland. Film briefly sets up the backgrounds of the six men who will be the captain and crew on the tragic voyage, but not even Clooney and Wahlberg can compete with the watery special effects and it turns into a stereotypical disaster flick. Adapted from Sebastian Junger's bestselling nonfiction account of the tragedy.

The Perfect Storm

This movie is so awesome, particularly because I love to go boating and have been in some bad storms on Lake Michigan myself. The movie has excellent actors and you really hope that these men on the ship make it through this storm and back to safety. The storm and the wave scenes are really good and you feel like you are really on the ship with them. The ending isn't what I expected and is really sad. This is a true story so it makes you feel sad for the crew that went through "the perfect storm". I really recommend anyone watching this film.

I used to watch this movie when my family stayed the night on our boat, and I was about ten or eleven years old so it freaked out me and my sister. The Perfect Storm is based off a true story, so it kind of shows what the deep sea fisherman have to do and fear. Their job is not easy. It is definitely something I wouldn't want to do. A huge storm comes and it is dark out with no one around. The crew has to fight to save the boat and for their lives. The boat completely capsizes because this gigantic wave comes out of nowhere. If I was on that boat, I think I would have fainted. The ending of this movie is really sad, but it shows all of the real dangers. Many of the crew members get trapped in the capsized boat as it fills up with water. I would recommend seeing this movie at least once. It is really good, especially to watch at night on a boat.
