It's a prisoner-of-war escape movie with chickens. This Claymation wonder is a comedy set on a failing 1950s Yorkshire chicken farm, where the hens realize their necks are literally on the chopping block when greedy farm wife, Mrs. Tweedy (Richardson), decides to go into the chicken pie business. So chicken leader, Ginger (Sawalha), tries to find a workable mass escape plan. And then daredevil Yankee rooster Rocky (Gibson) literally drops into the barnyard and Ginger believes he can teach all the hens to fly out. Chickens are just funny and you'll be amazed at what the animators have managed to make them do and how expressive they are.

The Tweedys run a chicken farm in Yorkshire, England, and it is failing. Mrs. Tweedy kills the chickens that fail to make their "egg quota." They decide to change their egg farm into a chicken pie farm instead. Ginger is one of the chickens. She continues to try to escape the coop with the help of the other chickens and a pair of rats but they always end up getting caught by Mr. Tweedy who locks her in the coal shed. Ginger realizes that the only way to escape for good is to fly over the fence, something that chickens cannot do. Ginger sees a rooster flying through the air. After crashing and injuring his wing, she takes him in and learns he's Rocky Rhodes, a cocky American who enjoys freedom. He had just escaped from the circus. Ginger comes up with a huge plan for all of the chickens to "fly" out of the prison that they are stuck in, and escape the evil Tweedys and their chicken pie maker.
