Adaptation of Jack London's 1903 adventure story is told from the view of Buck, an intelligent St. Bernard-Labrador mix who's kidnapped from his California home. He's sold in the Yukon and eventually winds up with prospector John Thornton (Hauer) but Buck is increasingly drawn to running free.

Peter Svatek directed Jack London’s The Call of the Wild starring Rutger Hauer (as John Thornton). This version was a made-for-TV film that came out in 1997, has a total running time of 90 minutes and has a rating of PG. This film originated from Jack London’s classic story. The Call of the Wild is about a dog named Buck who was taken from his home and brought to Alaska to become a sled dog. While there, he meets John Thornton. The two become pals and together they have many great adventures. Eventually Buck will finally get to run free.
