Snakes--lots and lots of snakes. Teeny baby snakes, little snakes, medium-sized snakes, large snakes, and one gigantic 40-foot long snake that likes to swallow people and then vomit them up again (the better to have room to swallow somebody else). Oh yeah, the minimal plot concerns a documentary film crew traveling the Amazon River looking for a legendary Indian tribe. They not only have to contend with the snakes but with crazy, snake-obsessed guide Paul Sarone (Voight). The actors react appropriately to becoming snake food.

A crew for "National Geographic" is shooting a a documentary on a long-lost Indian tribe on the Amazon River. The crew comes across a snake hunter, Paul Sarone, that thinks he knows where to find the tribe they are looking for. The crew thinks Sarone is acting weird, and in an accident on the boat, Cale, a crew member, is knocked unconscious. Sarone takes control of the boat... and the crew. Sarone forces the crew to help him hunt and capture the record-breaking Green Anaconda. Several of the members are killed in the process of trying to shoot the snake. Cale awakens and tries to stall Sarone so everyone can escape, but he catches up and captures them once again. Sarone dumps monkey blood on the remaining crew members as bait for the second anaconda. This huge snake squeezes Terri and Danny until Sarone is killed by his own plans, and the snake breaks free. They think the snake died when it was trapped in the smoke stack but it reappeared on the dock but Danny kills it. Floating down the river, they find the indian tribe.
