Based on the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem about the struggles of Evangeline and the tragedy of lost love. Evangeline lives in an Acadian (with ties to France) village in Nova Scotia and is engaged to Gabriel. But when France and England declare war, the village sides with France and the men are forcibly deported to Louisiana. But Evangeline is determined to be reunited with her love.

The 1929 movie of Evangeline is based on the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem. The movie has a run time of 90 minutes. Evangeline (Dolores del Rio) and her fiancé, Gabriel (Roland Drew), live in an Acadian village in Nova Scotia. Before the two can get married a war breaks between France and England. When the Village sides with France, the men are exiled and are deported to Louisiana. Evangeline follows the men to Louisiana in hopes to find Gabriel. She gets real close to finding him but she always just misses him. She’s determined to find Gabriel and live happily ever after.
