Political indictment of imperialistic England in this revisionist retelling of the notorious British defeat by the Russians at Balaclava. Battle scenes are secondary to this look at the stupidity of war. Fine cast; notable animation sequences by Richard Williams.

The Charge of the Light Brigade was made in 1968, which is one of the many remakes of this movie. Trevor Howard, John Gieldgud, and Harry Andrews star in The Charge of the Light Brigade. It’s 1854 and the British is involved in the Crimean War against Russia. This leads to the Battle of Balaclava. Due to that battle, the British Light Brigade was made against Russia in a small valley. This was heroic yet almost disastrous due to irrational planning by some of the British. The British won the war!
