If you like Bette brassy and larger than life, as only she can be, than this is the production for you. This TV re-creation of the 1959 Broadway musical stars Midler as notorious stage mother Mama Rose, who tries to realize all her frustrated ambitions by pushing her two young daughters, June and Louise, into vaudeville show biz. Her wish eventually comes true, in an unexpected fashion, when an adult Louise (Gibb) transforms herself into stripper Gypsy Rose Lee.

The made-for-TV movie Gypsy came out in 1993 and has a total running time of 150 minutes. This film is a biography on of Gypsy Rose Lee. Bette Midler (as Mama Rose), Peter Riegert (as Herbie) and Cynthia Gibb (as Louise/Gypsy Rose Lee) star in this musical. Mama Rose and has always wished for her daughters to become famous and involved in the show business. Her one daughter, Louise, becomes a stripper named Gypsy Rose Lee and becomes very popular and well known.
