Williams is an unemployed voiceover actor going through a messy divorce. When his wife gets custody, the distraught father decides to dress up as a woman and become a nanny to his own children. He also has to deal with the old flame who re-enters his ex-wife's life. Williams schtick extraordinaire with more than a little sugary sentimentality. Based on the British children's book "Madame Doubtfire" by Anne Fine.

Daniel Hillard, played by Robin Williams, is an actor who is the voice for many cartoon characters and gets angry at the producers because they have a mouse smoking a cigarette and the producer tells him that he needs to follow the script or lose his job. Daniel decides to walk out on his job and his life seems to fall apart from there. His wife Miranda, played by Sally Field, decides to leave him and Daniel is awarded one day of child visitation from the court. Danielle is very distraught that he can't see his kids enough and learns that his wife is looking for a nanny so he goes to his brother Frank who is a makeup artist and he helps Daniel turn into a Scottish nanny that his wife falls in love with and hires her/him. This excellent movie was made in 1993 and will bring you a lot of laughs. Everyone needs a nanny like Mrs. Doubtfire.
