Tom Hardy (Willis) is a hard-nosed fifth-generation Pittsburgh homicide cop whose police detective father (Mahoney) is killed, apparently by a serial killer. Hardy insists the perp was really a fellow cop and winds up on the River Rescue squad (at least his partner is the fetching Parker). When the serial killer starts striking at women with some connection to Hardy, he finds scant support from his fellow cops. High action quotient backed by a fine cast, but the killer's identity won't be any surprise.

This movie is pretty good. Tom Hardy comes from a family of cops and has just broken the cardinal rule: never speak out against another cop, which he did. Which now makes him persona non grata with the other cops. Presently there's a serial killer on the loose and when Tom and his father and some other cops corner him, a big chase ensues and when it is over Tom's father is dead, supposedly killed by the perp. Later, a suspect is brought in whom Tom doesn't believe is the one but most of the cops just don't want to believe him or think that he's objective is clouded. Eventually he is drummed out and the only position he could get is at river rescue. Two years later he still sticks to his beliefs and apparently the killer is back but everybody doesn't believe him and some people think that he is copy catting the killer.

Striking Distance released in 1993 with a running time of 101 minutes. The movie is full of non-stop action and suspense. Definitely a good movie. When Tom Hardy’s (Bruce Willis) father is killed, Tom believes another cop was involved in the killing. He then gets put on the River Rescue squad. Eventually, the killer strikes again that has some connection to Tom. Will he find the killer?
