Charming look at sports history and the Rockford Peaches, one of the teams in the real-life All American Girls Professional Baseball League, formed in the 40s when the men were off at war. Main focus is on sibling rivalry between Dottie Hinson (Davis), the beautiful, crackerjack catcher, and Kit Keller (Petty), her younger, insecure sister and team pitcher. Boozy coach Jimmy Dugan (Hanks) is wonderful as he reluctantly leads the team; he also gets credit for the classic "There's no crying in baseball" scene. Great cast of supporting characters, including sarcastic talent scout Ernie (Lovitz), opinionated, sleazy taxi dancer Mae (Madonna), loud-mouthed Doris (O'Donnell), and shy, homely Marla (Cavanagh). Lots of baseball for the sports fan.

The 1st All American Pro Girls Baseball League was formed in the 1940's when many men went off to fight in WWII. Two sisters named Dottie Henson (Geena Davis) and Kit Keller (Lori Petty) are on the team and have a great time together. Their manager is Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks)who is a bad manager who likes to drink. But the girls teach him many lessons and he decides to change his ways. The team has a lot of fun going out, but one day Kit gets upset because she always feels like she is in Dottie's shadow, so Dottie eventually transfers to a different team. The team eventually quit when all the guys come home from the war, but they are later reunited when they are inducted into the Hall of Fame. This 1992 movie is excellent movie and there are many great actors in the show. Many of the older players towards the end of the movie when they are reunited are actual players from the original team.
