Kenny Rogers as the Gambler came out as a made for TV movie in 1980, with a run time of 94 minutes. The movie was such a hit that they made two sequels after this one. The Gambler was also nominated for two Primetime Emmys. Brady Hawkes (Kenny Rogers) goes on a rescue to help his son out. On the way, Brady meets a young man with the name of Billy Montana (Bruce Boxleitner). The two are both really good at playing cards. From that, they become very good friends and help each other out when needed.
