Best friends find their relationship tested when the brutal husband of one of them is murdered. Moore and Headly are exceptional, capturing the perfect inflections and attitudes of the hard-working New Jersey beauticians sure of their friendship. Excellent pacing, fine supporting cast, with Keitel and Willis stand-outs.

I think this movie has an interesting plot. Cynthia Kellogg comes forward to talk to detective John Woods about the murder of her best friend's husband. The story is told as a series of flashbacks. James Urbanski was a bullying, verbally, and physically abusive husband. His wife Joyce has, on a number of occasions, expressed her intention to kill him. One night when all three are at the fair, Joyce has a row with James, and Cynthia helps James back to the van, but later he was found dead.
